About Us

Origins of the Event

  • In 2023, with the help of retired special education teacher Mrs. Nelson, a small group of individuals from the Weatherford High School Public Safety Club and the Weatherford Key Club joined with the Kiwanis of Weatherford to create the Luke Perry Fetterolf Autism Awareness Event.  The goal of the event was to honor a former graduate, Luke Perry Fetterolf, raise money to help support autism locally, and raise awareness about autism and its impact on the community.  Over the last two years, we have raised over $5,000 which was given directly back to the community to support autism.  We look forward to  raising awareness and supporting the city of Weatherford, Parker County, and beyond for many years to come.

Our Namesake

  • Luke was born on August 5, 1994, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and graduated from Weatherford High School, Class of 2012. From a young age, he loved the outdoors and staying active, spending his time skateboarding, participating in scouts, and exploring new adventures. Luke proudly served seven years in the United States Marine Corps, beginning his career as a Military Police Officer and later becoming a Military Working Dog Handler. He was known for being incredibly intelligent, a fast learner, and someone who embraced new challenges with enthusiasm.

  • In 2014, Luke married his wife, Dani, and together they had two children, Daxon and Bowen. Their oldest child has autism which began a journey that Luke approached with deep care, patience, and devotion. Above all, Luke cherished time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building cars, riding his motorcycle, and being outdoors. Known for his sharp sense of humor and genuine compassion for others, Luke lived a life defined by service, curiosity, and a deep love for those around him.
